Maurais, KC1IV. Maurais, an industrial arts instructor at the Frank H. Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth, was chosen for the honor on October 4. Maurais, an ARRL-registered instructor and the 1992 ARRL Instructor of the Year, was picked from 17 candidates recommended by local nominating committees. In 1994 Bob Maurais received the Walt Disney Company's ''American Teacher of the Year'' award, and in 1993 he was the recipient of the Maine State Christa McAuliffe Fellowship Award. His father is a ham, too: Jerry Maurais, WA1BMG. KC1IV's selection was made by Raymond H. Poulin Jr, Maine's deputy commissioner of the Department of Education, and Peter Geiger, vice chairman of the Maine State Board of Education.
