ARLS009 Ham gear on ISS to be turned off during space walk

As a safety measure, all Amateur Radio on the International Space
Station (ARISS) radio equipment will be turned off for up to a
couple of days due to a space walk scheduled for Friday, June 25.

The amateur gear is scheduled to be turned off Wednesday, June 23,
at approximately 1500 UTC. The ARISS radios will return to service
sometime on Friday, June 25, but not before the spacewalk ends. This
week's space walk will be the first of three for the Expedition 9
crew.

The ISS crew of Mike Fincke, KE5AIT, and Gennady Padalka, RN3DT, may
operate as NA1SS and RS0ISS respectively during ARRL Field Day
weekend, June 26-27.

ARISS is an international educational outreach program with US
participation from ARRL, NASA and AMSAT.
