The National Hurricane Center reports the storm is moving west-northwest but was expected to turn northwestward. At 1500 UTC, the government of the Bahamas issued a hurricane warning for all of central Bahamas and a portion of northwestern Bahamas, Eleuthera and the Abacos. A hurricane watch in effect for the remainder of the northwest Bahamas, including Andros, Berry, Bimini, Grand Bahama, and New Providence islands. The Hurricane Center says that residents along the southeast coast of the US, primarily North and South Carolina, ''should closely monitor the progress of Dennis.'' ''We are receiving reports from the Bahamas now and passing them on to the National Hurricane Center,'' Hurricane Watch Net Manager Jerry Herman, N3BDW, said this morning. The Hurricane Watch Net meets on 14.325 MHz. It coordinates weather observations from Amateur Radio operators to forecasters via the National Hurricane Center's W4EHW in Miami. NNNN /EX
