ARLB056 ARRL Director resigns
 
ARRL Great Lakes Division Director Al Severson, AB8P, has resigned
for health reasons.  Effective June 5, Vice Director George Race,
WB8BGY, becomes Great Lakes Division Director.
 
Severson, who is still recuperating from a prolonged illness, said
''The only reason for my resignation is ... my feeling that we need a
vital and active member running this division.''
 
''I am certain you realize how sad I am taking this action. However,
I am extremely heartened to have my friends in the League family,
and my good friend George Race to take my place,'' Severson said.
 
Severson had served as director since January 1, 1990, and, before
that, as vice director.
