ARRL Treasurer Position

Position Description

The ARRL Articles of Association and By Laws include the following regarding the position of Treasurer for the ARRL, Inc.:

  • The Treasurer is a volunteer officer of the corporation, elected by the Board of Directors at the annual (January) meeting in even-numbered years.
  • Is a member of the Board of Directors, without vote.
  • Must be a licensed Radio Amateur with at least four (4) years of continuous Full membership in the organization immediately preceding being nominated.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • The Treasurer, upon consultation with and subject to the general supervision of the Administration and Finance Committee, shall provide for the investment and reinvestment of the surplus funds of the League in any bonds, stocks or other securities as would be selected by a trustee with the care of a prudent investor.
  • Shall make a report at all regular meetings of the Board of Directors and shall attend meetings of the Board.
  • Shall service as a member of the Administration and Finance Committee and, if assigned, sub-committees of the Board or Administrative and Finance Committee.
  • Shall have the authority to sign checks and other legal documents on behalf of the League as required in his/her role as manager of the League’s investments activities.
  • Shall furnish a bond satisfactory to the Board, the expense of such bond to be borne by the League.

Position Requirements

  • Extensive business management experience including some finance background to serve as an effective member of the Administration and Finance Committee.
  • Several years of broad, professional portfolio management experience with portfolios in excess of $35 million with an understanding of both fixed income and equity securities to serve as manager of the ARRL portfolio.
  • Preferably the successful candidate will have experience participating with not-for-profit Board of Directors.
  • Ability to work with not-for-profit Boards and Committees in carrying out the mission of the organization.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • The successful candidate must provide a minimum of three professional references.
