The 200th anniversary of the historic Battle of Plattsburgh will occur over 17 days August 31 through September 14. in and around Plattsburgh, NY. Briefly, spectators will see three battle re-enactments with upwards of 200 participants, the grand encampment, five memorials including one on Crab Island at 11 am on Sept 11th followed by an evening concert and fireworks at Clinton Community College. Live concerts from Clinton Community College, the Plattsburgh State University College Giltz auditorium and the City Hall steps with fireworks following. Three performances of the original musical "Battling in Plattsburgh" will be presented at Hartman Theater on PSUC campus. A recreation of Israel Green tavern vintage 1814 will have continuous entertainment the 12th, 13th and 14th of September while kids enjoy period games outside. Contests, races and 10 major concerts will be enjoyed by thousands over a two week period. A massive parade with 5 major brass bands including the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines, the U. S. Navy Band Northeast, the 42nd Inf. Division Army Band and the 60 member Norwich University Cadet band joined by 5 Pipes and Drums bands, floats and marching units; more than 100 units in total will be presented on Saturday the 13th followed by a Beat Retreat featuring all the bands playing together. Between 250 and 300 musicians will take part. The final day,Sunday September 14 will headline the Children's Old Time Village Fair enjoyed by hundreds of kids and their families www.cvarc.us

If you just want the QSL just send a S.A.S.E.. Please do not send cash for postage. Our event is to commemorate the burial site of Hannah Boone Pennington and the Old Mulkey Meetinghouse. Hannah is one of the sisters of the famous pioneer Daniel Boone. She is buried in the graveyard along with early settlers and revolutionary War soldiers. Friday the 12th of Sept will be kids day. The local elementary schools and middle school kids will be with us learning about the math and science of Amateur Radio. They will also be getting on air to have the experience of talking on the radio. Please be patient with the children if you make contact with them. Hope to hear you on the airwaves!
