ARRL Emergency Communication Course K9RJW on 31/3/18
I recently signed up for and started to take the ARRL provided course for Emergency Communications.

Introduction to Emergency Communication (EC-001)

Which the ARRL charges member $50 for.
Others need to be aware of the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Good: They have volunteer mentors to assist you with the course. I have learned a lot from the course to date. Things that I feel make me a better Amateur Radio Operator and also Emergency Volunteer.

The Bad: The course is not being kept up to date in that there are numerous bad links leading to 404 errors. This then causes the student to hunt and guess at what they are supposed to read.

The Ugly: While I was a little behind on the course I planned on doing a push to complete it in the week before the course ended. When trying to access the course I got nothing but a 404 error over the last several days. I sent an email to my mentor and the education contact on the ARRL website. The ARRL has made zero effort to respond to me over the last several days.

I would give this course a rating of 1/5 due to the above problems, please don't waste your time or money until these problems are resolved. Once they resolve these things I would be more than happy to give it a 4/5 rating.

Warning to the wise, if you are the type that wants to get the most out of a course and do all the extra reading, and try and write good papers for the assignment, the course will take more time than you might have planned. If life gets in the way you will not be able to complete it in the time allotted.
