Mozley, W2BCH, who served as Vice Director of the ARRL Atlantic Division from 1986-89, died May 13 at age 89 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse, New York. A long-time resident of Camillus, New York, Jim was active in the ARRL Western New York Section as an Assistant Section Manager and as an Official Emergency Station. He also served as an Official Observer from 1991 through 2004. In addition, Mozley served as the Section Emergency Coordinator, Western New York section, when Bill Thompson, W2MTA, became the Section Communications Manager in 1980. Jim was a nuclear engineer who last worked at University Hospital, Syracuse University. He was among the contingent of nuclear scientists who traveled to the Soviet Union to review their nuclear facilities, including the one in Chernobyl before the disaster in 1985. A Field Artillery Lieutenant, Jim served in World War II in Europe. He leaves his wife Betty and daughter Mary M. Robert, KB0MYX. Atlantic Division Assistant Director Vivian Douglas, WA2PUU, who was a close friend of Jim's, told the ARRL: "Jim worked with me [in various volunteer capacities] since we became ham friends 38 years ago. He never said 'no' when called -- regardless of weather or conditions. He was proud of being a part of ham radio and the ARRL." NNNN /EX
