A live feed from the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT)
annual symposium will be available on many local amateur repeaters
this weekend, according to AMSAT.

Members of the Houston AMSAT Net will provide the feed from the 13th
annual Space Symposium, in Orlando, on Friday, October 6, and
Saturday, October 7, from 2230 to 2350 UTC both days, according to
Bruce Paige, KK5DO. Paige said that since the meeting's exact
schedule was not final, it was not clear what would be on the feeds.
The Houston AMSAT members hope to include interviews with AMSAT
principals as well as perhaps portions of seminars on the feeds.

''Preliminary equipment looks like a phone patch with a hand-held, a
roving HT, and away we go,'' Paige said.

The regular, weekly Houston AMSAT Net is carried live on Tuesdays at
10 PM Central Time, on 147.100 MHz, and also is carried on Telstar
302, Transponder 21, 5.8 MHz audio subcarrier. Video is on the
Skyvision Channel. These outlets will be used for the special
symposium coverage.

A major feature of the symposium will be Saturday morning's panel
presentation on the Phase 3D project. Dr. Karl Meinzer, DJ4ZC, who
serves as the project leader for this international effort, will be
a member of the panel, an AMSAT spokesman said. Dr Meinzer has
agreed to be interviewed on the live feed.

Information on Phase 3D and other AMSAT activities is available on
the Internet at AMSAT's World Wide Web site:
