Didn't do too well this year. We moved to Va. mountains from La. swamps in June and didn't have time to set up good antennas so operated from the truck on the mountain top, and it SNEAUXED (snowed) Most I have ever been in, still had a ton of fun. Hopw... Read More

My goal this year was to make the QSO with each station last as long as possible. I wanted to learn as much as possible about the operator on the other end. I'm not a contester, I really enjoy the QSO itself, quality, not quantity.

This was the first time I did SKN for quite a few years. I was hoping to get a little more practice before going on the air, but jumped in any way. I made only one contact, Joe K0IVK, and it was as enjoyable as I remember my previous SKNs. I used an... Read More

I had a great time in SKN 2003.
I used an old Ranger II and Drake 2B (my General station back in the early '60s) with a J-38 key.
I enjoyed working KC2DMH with his DX-40 and HQ-110.
The accompanying photo shows me at the rig.

Had to go single radio in this one as the Icom-745 is about to give up the ghost.
Aside from that and my logging problem with state and VE mults, all went well.
10M was kinda disapointing from this location but the other bands seemed in good
shape.

Low line tension resulted in reduced power output. The antennas
made by LU1FJ, did a great job and compensated the lack of output
power. We enjoyed some of the off time listening to contesting "monster" stations: ZD8Z, ZW5B, ZX5J,D44TD,and many others... Read More
