2010 ARRL Field Day

06/29/2010 | WD9EWK

My 2010 Field Day was spent at the same site as my 2009 Field Day, the Garland Prairie Vista picnic ground in the Kaibab National Forest, along old US-66 about 20 miles west of Flagstaff AZ.  Once again, I was in the 1B/1-Op/Battery category, working 40-6m as well as 6 different satellites (AO-7, AO-27, AO-51, FO-29, SO-50, VO-52) - all at 5W.

It was fun to work 40m in the afternoon at 5W and reach as far away as northern California, and then go on AO-7 and FO-29 to make more QSOs.  Those two satellites sounded like 20m with so many stations trying to make their QSOs.  I logged a total of 49 QSOs in 9.5 hours up at 7200' elevation.   Much better weather up there, compared to the desert heat in Phoenix.

73!
