I have worked many SKNs in my 20 years on the air, but this one was the best for me! It is also the first time that I have decided to send in comments and a list of stations I worked. For SKN, I ran all QRP, using my Elecraft K2 at 5 watts to a G5RV. Stayed on 40M and 80M exclusively. I worked a total of 12 stations, and most of those were 30-40 minute rag-chews. I have always enjoyed using straight keys and have a few to pick from here. For SKN 07, I chose my Schurr Morsetasten full-sized key. It's a fairly large key with precision machining that is a joy to use. Unfortunately, they are no longer made.
I heard many great-sounding fists on the air, and the alluring 'whoop-whoop' call of many a chirping vintage rig. That just adds to the special flavor of SKN for me.
Of special pleasure was completing the Straight Key Century Club 'Centurian Award' for contacting 100 other SKCC members using straight key CW. I've been working on this on and off for nearly a year. How sweet to complete it on SKN! Thanks to all who worked me, and I'll be running my straight keys year-round here. Every night is SKN with SKCC!
