2006 ARRL Field Day

07/10/2006 | N2DM Robords Pond, Arkport NY. Catagory "1 Bravo, WNY"
- Most excellant Field Day - Magnificant weather in the Western Southern Tier of New York State, at 1800 Ft elevation.
- Doubled last years QSO count - Band conditions were very good at my location -
Equipment: Icom 718 txcvr, Heathkit 2060A antenna tuner and HyGain #2BDQ-S, 2 band trap dipole. This antenna tuned up well on all bands except for 80 meter CW portion. I think Dipole is more effective than a vertical. Note: This antenna is heavy due to weight of traps, my AB-155 mast kit and local tree had hard time elevating antenna much above 25 feet.(end supports only)- Power generated by vintage "Generac 3500 Watt unit", ran flawless for the 24 hours.(overkill for a solid state txcvr<:))
My 3rd harmonic, Jonathon had great time, made 2 contacts for the youth bonus. Hopes to have ticket for next years Field Day.
Thanks, very 73, to all fellow hams who made themselves available for FD QSO's.
Dale, -- N2DM
