2006 ARRL Field Day

07/01/2006 | WC4D This was the first year of our club the Thoroughbred DX Group in Lexington,KY. So this makes our first event. We don't have a lot of memembers so what we had, did the work of many. But not many clubs would attempt a setup as we had. We setup 3 towers 2. 30 footers and a 50 foot crankup. For antennas we used a Hy Gain TH6 DX on CW. Then on 40 meters and 15 we used a Force 12 C4 SLX and on 20 we used a Hy Gain 5 element mono bander to get our signal out. We ran 3A KY and for just 6 guys getting together for our first contest, I have to say it was AWESOME. We even had a satellite antenna system setup by Bill N4AMG with computer control tracking, that made us some bonus points and some Q's. Bill also ran our CW station along with Harry N4HT. On 40 meters we used 2 new hams along with John N4JOH who setup the 40 meter station in the pictures. Thanks to Jordan and Dave for their help and doing their first 40 meter HF contacts. We had Ted KF6BDQ running 80 meters and doing all the antenna hanging on the towers from the bucket truck and what ever else was needed. We also had JB WA4WWH working some 20 meter Q's for use also. My name is Don and we used my call sign and it was my pleasure to work with this group of men to show our fellow hams what a few good men can do. Enjoy the pictures
