2006 ARRL Field Day
And once again we went to the Bacardi grounds in Cata. When I got there at 11:00am half the work was done; only things left were the antennas and generators. Operations started after 2pm and CW was first used on 15 meters. Later as time went by the action moved to 20 meters which was the band to be, even after midnight, and all night long! 40 meters was great for CW Sunday morning.
All I did was 20 meters and was happy for being the new multiplier for many stations which needed P.R. on their logs. Oh and gave the APRS demo.
If you see some of the photos "white-ish" is that we had some dust from the Sahara that came to the Caribbean plus the ashes from the Monserrat volcano, and that makes the day very very hot!
We had as always the visit of our Section Manager Victor Madera - KP4PQ as well as other fellow hams who took turns operating.
We had demos on ATV, APRS and satellites as always.
The highlight of the event was when Orlando Gotay,a representative of the city of San Juan and is recently WP4NPV came with a proclamation from the Mayor Jorge A. Santini stating June Amateur Radio month in San Juan.
Also we had our first "Ham - Crab" so to say, who did not know if to operate phone or CW.
The W1AW message was copied on CW Sunday morning.
