2006 ARRL Field Day

07/01/2006 | W7RDR The Pacific Co. Amateur Radio club FD event took place at the Nahcotta Mooring Basin of the Port of Peninsula and the adjacent Morehead Park on Washington State's Long Beach peninsula. We had a phone station using a newly designed 2 element wire multi-band beam up 40 ft at the center lowering to 15ft at the ends and placed close to salt water. The CW station used a multi-band dipole with tuned feedline, 160M and down, hung from trees to a 36 ft. mast.

The new Pacific County Command vehicle was showcased and demonstrated ham radio capability by using ICOM 706 in the vehicle with an external dipole antenna. This was our GOTA station and 35 HF contacts were made and much interest was generated.

OVERALL RESULTS:

416 voice contacts vs. 352 voice contacts in 2005 vs. 248 in 2004.

462 CW contacts vs. 601 CW contacts in 2005 vs. 209 in 2004.

Most states and provinces worked. This demonstrates we have the capability of reaching the entire US on HF radio from Pac. Co. depending on the sunspot cycle. -- N7CVW
