06/30/2006 | K5R The Palestine/Anderson County ARC operated as K5R at the depot of the Texas State Railroad in Palestine, Texas. Making contacts was fun and sometimes difficult with lots of people watching us while waiting for the old steam engine train ride to get underway. Several contacts were made by some youths of the club members and many, many more by the club members themselves taking turns. One of the best things of all Field Day events is the food...and we had lots of it! Our local newspaper sent a reporter and she did a fantastic article which was in the Sunday paper. There are many things learned and experimented with during Field Day and we can't wait for next year. -- KB5YUE
