06/30/2006 | WO8VET This was the first field day that me (Chris, WO8USA) and my two sons (Ryan, WO8VET) and Jason (KD8DPW) have been able to individually participate. Ryan and Jason, 9 and 12 years old, have been licensed for about a month.

We kept it simple, maybe next year we will be a full blown contest competitor. Each of us only had a few QSOs, but we learned to make a dipole out of things we had lying around. PVC pipe, bungy cords, wire, tape, and an old dipole connector put the tree-house portable on the air.

Mom joined in the fun too as observer and safety consultant.
