2006 ARRL Field Day
10-70 friends, family, and members made this year's field day a memorable one. While the weather wouldn't corporate, the atmosphere was upbeat and enjoyable. In addition to operating the various stations, the group was also visited by several people that were interested in what we were doing. The Executive Board of 10-70, as well as several members was kept busy handing out information packets, explaining Amateur Radio, greeting dignitaries, and making new friends from the surrounding communities.
All hands were called into action and they rose to the challenge. Stations were set-up, antennas were erected; food, drink and snacks were in abundance and club morale was amazingly high. The rain was very hard at times and the bands did not always cooperate, but this wouldnt slow us down. Determination took over and with grunts, groans, and even cheers; we managed to get all the stations operational.
At the first crackle of static, the initial call for CQ and the first QSO logged; made all of us forget the weather, as we soon began to pile-up the points. Field day 2006 went out as it came in rainy and gloomy. As the last station was taken down and packed-up; I couldnt help but beam with satisfaction. It was sheer pleasure to participate in this years Field Day and I wish to thank the amazing group of men and women that make up the 10-70 Repeater Association, as well as our visitors, guests, friends, and family. All of which helped to make this years event the most memorable to date.
Thank You All,
Rocky -- KC2HRG
