2006 ARRL Field Day
It was interesting being the FD coordinator. I was nervous just like when I did participated in my first VE testing session! It was trying at times, but rewarding in the fact that we pulled off a good and productive event. Our location allowed for us to make use of the very beautiful Scioto Park and Nature Area here in Delaware County, which has a walking path that went past all of our stations. That helped to encourage people to stop and ask questions about what we were doing, as well as garner participation in the GOTA station.
I think our operators and loggers had the best time, although putting up our wire antennas was actually fun! We used all home brewed wire antennas made out of fence wire.
We also incorporated our club picnic into the event. It was good to have our families come to the site and see what we are doing, and of course bring food! It worked well and nobody went hungry!
We also were fortunate in having a beautiful weekend with sunshine and temperatures in the low 80's.
Hope all of you had as great a time during FD as we did. We're looking forward to next year!
