2006 ARRL Field Day
We were using an FT890 and a couple of Elecraft K2's for the heavy work. Many thanks to Nigel G8IFF coming in from the UK to work the GOTA station with us. Nigel is a master of the fishing pole vertical, and a very good op. Nigel used his tricked out FT 817 for the QRP GOTA operations on SSB.
Team W8PIG was working hard all day Saturday to get everything set up and operational. When the starting bell rang we had our first logged contact at 18:02Z. Of course we were using the fabulous N3FJP Field Day logging software. Visit their website at < http://www.n3fjp.com > and take a look at it. Very nice.
This year we got our dipoles up higher, significantly higher, than last year...that coupled with mild WX and better band CONDX we more than doubled our previous score.
Ranger Jim O'Boyle stopped in on Sunday to pay an official visit, he was looking for exotic birds and found a bunch of Flying Pigs. Needless to say, he was very impressed.
We're already looking forward to FD 2007!
