06/15/2006 | KB3NDS I am rather new to HAM radio (got my ticket in Feb) and didn't even know about this contest until it was mentioned on a morning net that I attend on my way to work. I looked up the contest site and was elated that I would at least be able to work 1 day of the event. I had to work on Saturday so I missed the great opening that everyone is talking about. Sunday was open for me and I was able to make about 20 contacts, filling 2 new grid squares that I haven't worked on 6M yet. I also made my first SSB 2M contact on Sunday which was quite intresting. I am really looking forward to the September party and have already planned to be off of work. Thanks to everyone that answered my CQ's! -- KB3NDS
