2006 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/14/2006 | N5AU Conditions sounded extremely good from EM12 for this contest. 6 meters was open somewhere just about every time I turned the dial. After the wild Es opening to JA on Sunday evening, June 4, I'm starting to believe the next solar cycle could indeed be a huge one as predicted by some solar scientists. Won't that be nice!

I don't have much in the radio line for VHF, only a Yaesu FT857D mobile rig with 100 watts on 6, and less on 2 and 432. Antennas: 5L 6m at 80', 9L 2m at 70', and 21L 432 at 75' on the same mast.

However, I do have a secret to help put some "magic" in the "magic" band. The first photo lets the cat out of the bag (or can). The second photo is a new addition going up soon to lofty altitudes to help out on ground wave just in case the first doesn't work...... -- N5AU
