01/24/2006 | KQ6EE KQ6EE was at the top of San Gabriel Peak(6161') above Pasadena, CA. I only operated for couple hours only on Sunday. It was pretty windy and cold. I didn't want to be frozen to death. That's why I hiked down before noon. I bring all my ht and FT-817 from 6m to 1.2g. But the 220 had so much inference (no contact on 220). And I didn't bring my beam antenna also; only used vecticle antenna. I think,this time, my score will be low. There were many contacts from San Deigo area from my QTH (DM12:may be >100 miles); which was not too bad for 5w or less. It is alway fun to go hiking and calling CQ Contest, CQ Contest. My digital camera is broken so I can't take any wonderful pictures. Looking forward for next contest so I can climb up the higher mountain. 73, Hon Chu -- KQ6EE
