2006 ARRL RTTY Roundup

01/09/2006 | CT2HZU Hi everyone!!

Have been waiting for contest time for a while since last year was filled with work and not to must time spent on the radio

Well, since my working conditions are poor, with only a vertical antenna for 10 to 40 meter bands and 4 element yagi for 10 meter band (missing completely the 80 meter band), the contest started with me calling and calling and no one to take, since in the beginning everyone eager to work everybody, the little signals were literally obscured by the BIG ones!!

In the first hour a mere 20 or so contacts was the best I could do. The elected band was the 40 meter, since the 20 was a messMeanwhile I stopped at 00:00 for my 6 hour break I chose to take at one time. At 6:00 am Sunday, I started again. 20 meter band was sleeping yet, and again tried the 40 meter band with a little better result than the previous day. As the hours were passing, I was getting more and more propagation, specially on the 15 meter band where Ive done quite well (for my pretensions) and doing more and more contacts. Have tried the 10 meter band for several times but, had no luck

With the nigh coming and the 20 meter band closing, I changed to the 40 meter band, where I ended the contest with a lot of new multipliers.

Confess I was not happy in the beginning with my poor performance, but in the end it was very funny indeed.

Hope next years edition, have better working conditions, too work all of you out there hi hi
