01/25/2006 | K6 ILM Decided to try multiple rigs for first time in 51 years. No luck with 1929 hartley & Gross Eagle combo or Hallicrafters SR-75 tranceiver, a little better with Lettine 240 & National FB-7 combo, as well as Ameco AC-1 & National SW-3 combo, then gangbusters with KWS-1 & 75A4. Three other combos on the floor, but no time for smoke test. Key was J-38 I got 60 years ago for 25 cents. In the photo, SR-75 is on top(looks like S-38B) and Hartley breadboard sits on top of FB-7. Picture taken while sitting on Globe King 400B, next year's probable smoke victim. Best fist was Will, WA7OET, who sends like me only better.
