2006 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/09/2006 | N3ZOC Although the 61 minute QSO with Dana, AD5VC, of Baton Rouge LA was my only SKN contact, it is one I will never forget. Dana had a great fist although he had only obtained his Amateur license in Nov 2005. It was hurricane Katrina that prompted Dana to tackle the "nerve racking" morse code and obtain his ticket to reliable communications in time of disasters, along with the ability to help others. His beautiful fist was amazing to me due to his short time as a Ham. Since I spend most of my ham operation on the Novice/TP sub bands and work with the local slow net, I would say Dana's CW fist is one of the best I have ever heard from a beginning operator (and no doubt better than mine). Keep up the excellent work Dana and welcome to a great hobby and public service organization....Frank/n3zoc. -- N3ZOC
