2005 ARRL November Sweepstakes (Phone)

12/05/2005 | W8EDU The Case Amateur Radio Club station, W8EDU, at Case Western Reserve University was active on SSB as well as CW this year, hosting a M/S effort in ARRL SS SSB.

The emphasis in this contest was to provide some exposure to contesting to operators that don't routinely compete, and to demonstrate ham radio to some non-licensed students. Case Amateur Radio Club member and Physics/Astronomy major KB3HTS was particularly successful in sharing her enthusiasm for ham radio with her peers.

Participating in The Collegiate Championship of Intercollegiate Amateur Radio Contesting is another enjoyable aspect of ARRL Sweepstakes. There are rivalries building in The Collegiate Championship, and W8EDU is in the thick of it. More information on The Collegiate Championship of Intercollegiate Amateur Radio Contesting can be found at http://www.collegiatechampionship.org.

A special thanks to Bob Leskovec, K8DTS, Alan McIlwain, KI8JV/VE4AKM, Sam Wolfe, NV8L, and all of the other Case Amateur Radio Club members that keep the station in such great order. -- W8WTS
