2005 ARRL November Sweepstakes (Phone)
Station: FT-847, Force 12 (2-el ea 20-15-10), HF2V 80-40, (TR-log)...
30% of my QSO's were RUN (based on CQ-ing), 70% on S&P (Search and Pounce).
When CQ-ing, I worked 1.2 stations per minute... i.e., one QSO every 50-seconds. When S and P, I worked 0.7 stations per minute or one QSO every one-minute-10-seconds. To put it another way -- when calling CQ, I worked 6 stations every 5 minutes, but when S & P-ing, I worked 6 stations every 7 minutes.
During CQ-ing, I worked 11 new sections, and 40 total sections. During S & P I worked 65 new sections.
During the entire contest, I worked a new multiplier on AVG once every
8-minutes-24-seconds.
Most QSO's were with: WWA (23-total---one every 28-minutes and 40-seconds)....
2nd most SCV (22)
3rd - IL (16)
4th - tie -MN and MDC (14)
I worked Alaska 5 times -- once every 2-hours-12-minutes
and worked Hawaii 3 times -- once every 3-hours-40-minutes

No QSO's on 10M or 160M. Best band was 20 for most Q's and
mults. On 80M using the vertical -- best rate was 18 Q's in
13-minutes. My best RUN on 20 was 65 Q's in 57-minutes (with 2 el yaqi). I had put up an 80M NVIS dipole and worked NO ONE using it -- it was cut for the higher end of the band and most of the activity was between 3750 and 3875.
Interesting observation department: Previous 4 years I always entered SS in QRP category (both SSB and CW). In those years/contests where I had more than minimal effort, I averaged about 250 QSO's and about 63 sections. Each effort was approx 11-hours of air time.
In 2005, I was not home for CWSS, and entered Phone SS as category A -- again about 11 hours operating time. The difference between categories Q and A for me was about 100 Q's and 13-sections FOR SAME TIME EXPENDED (ignoring sunspots, and based on very limited sampling).
Thank you ARRL for sponsoring contest, thank you everyone for the QSO's.
