2005 ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW)

11/10/2005 | K6JEB This was my first Sweepstakes since 1988, when I was just starting college. I was bluffing my way through learning new logging software, and managed to get two more temporary antennas up in time for the contest to start. The first day I felt like I simply wasn't being heard. I was also not used to so much activity on the bands. But early on I worked the sections I thought would be tough, and like many, missed some of the ones that I felt would be easy (NNY!).

Sunday, there was a wonderful opening on both 15m and 10m and on those bands I can kinda sorta compete with the Big Guns. Not an earth-shattering score in the end, but I had a blast, and managed to get all but nine multipliers. Hope to see you on SSB weekend.

To you Big Guns: I realize it's tough to work us low-power folks through all the QRM, but I appreciate your perseverence and patience. By the way, some of us are mildly rare multipliers. :) -- K6JEB
