Was a very limited operation this time around for us. Only covering 8 grids compared to our normal 13. Signals were down for us this time around which was dissapointing. Brought along the homebrew 6m moxon and was glad I did as I wouldn't have made some of the contacts that I made on that band without it. Switching from the stacked loops to the moxon would bring the signal up 3db or more just about every time. Improvements for Jan. 2006 are to homebrew a remote control box that will allow me to move the TE Systems amps from their current position in the rover (on the console) to behind the passengers seat. The goal is to mount them all flat on a piece of plywood and run control cables from each amps remote port that will control power on\off and pre amp on\off. Also, plan to purchase the RS-2000 remote head unit for the Kenwood TS-2000 that will allow me to remotely mount the radio behind the drivers seat freeing up space as well. Where the radio currently resides will be a 15" touchscreen LCD used for GPS tracking, APRS and anything else I can think of.
