2005 IARU HF World Championships

07/10/2005 | WB0GFZ As a ressurrected ham, back on the air after many years of inactivity, this was my first experience with a real contest, my first experience with submitting a log. I can tell you, contesting was FUN! Only had a few hours to spend, and only made less than a couple dozen contacts, but generally stations were swift in their responses, QSO's short, productive and polite. Even worked a few DX stations. Wow!

I submitted my log with the Cabrillo format "applet", and this is where I have the only real suggestion for improvement. As I entered each screen and proceeded to the next one, I was under the impression that it allowed me to correct anything before it sent it in. On the last page, I was notified that it sent a e-mail message to my e-mail address. I assumed that this was to confirm that everything, including my e-mail address was OK. Well I had a few corrections to make and what I found out, is that each time I went to that final page it was actually sending it in. I guess no real big deal, seems I read that the "robot" will automatically update any corrections, But I wonder if I'm doing it right. Did my log entry get submitted? Sure hope so.

Anyway, had a great time getting into this contesting thing. Hope to do so again.
