2005 ARRL Field Day

07/23/2005 | W4GR The Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society commonly called GARS. This year the theme was KISS (keep it simple silly) and it worked.
We operated 6A and used dipoles and beams. The computer logging worked great this year. Kf4pwi, Scott provided the computers and setup all the parameters for the software. Each band captain setup the station and provided scratch paper and pencils at each station. At our June meeting we had demonstrated the computers and software so everyone could see it in action before field day. We also made the dipoles at the June meeting.
Our site is located in a city park. We have been using this park since 1997 and it has turned out to be a great location. There is a lot of foot traffic around us.
We also had excellent press coverage from the local paper. The article is to big to paste here, but you can see it on our web site at http://www.gars.org
This year there seem to be more young people than in the past. We gave out 4 first contact forms.
Overall, I believe that everyone that came out to field day 2005 had a good time. If you missed this year, plan to come out next year, well be here.
David,
Ka4kkf,
President of GARS
2005 -- KA4KKF
