2005 ARRL Field Day

07/18/2005 | W6CX The Mount Diablo Radio Amateur Club, W6Cx 5A EB, returned to their namesake site (Mt. Diablo State Park) at 3749 feet this year after a few years of trying it at sea level. 2005 brought a new radiating device to the event this year. K6FEJ came with his monster 650-foot loop for 40 meters; because of Homeland Security reasons we couldn't photograph it. Site antennas also included a 3-element beam for 15 meters on the K6SOE/Mobile mount. The MDARC Club Trailer had 20 meters on the crank-up mast and 2 and 6 meters were off the front of the trailer; 10 GHz was on the edge of the parking lot. Many of our club members came up the hill to enjoy the view and the propagation from the top of the mountain. Unlike prior years, there were no mishaps that required medical or environmental attention ... except for WA6CIE having to argue with racoons over the use of the rest station at the end of the parking lot! FUN was had by all, and we even made a couple thousand Q's too!!! Photos by K6FEJ
