Several teen hams from Greater Syracuse Area, New York, have participated in the ARRLs 2005 Field Day and operated their three alfa (3A) class stations from a hill where a ski resort in Camillus (west neighboring town of Syracuse) is located. Their operation was under the ARRLs Western New York section. Call sign used during the contest was N2PMP. Among the teens were Sam - KC2LRC, Dan - KC2MQD, Ben - KC2MNC, Jeff - KC2MDB, Kathryn - KC2MOK, and Qays KC - AB2SH. Acting as the manager of the field day was a young ham from Camillus, John K.L. - N2PMP, and the coordinator was John W.L. - N2PMQ (N2PMPs father). Among the guardians were Wyn - AB2QV (AB2SHs father), Pat - KC2OBO (KC2LRCs Mom) and John P II - KB2ERJ.

Their field day operation was sponsored by Camillus Dept. Park & Recreation and the Wireless Association of Camillus. They used many hamradio equipment and its accessories belonged to WW2N, AB2QV, WA2AEW, N2PMP, N2PMQ, KC2LRC, KC2MQD and KC2OBO. They used WW2N homebrewed multiband HF dipole antenna and AB2QV portable-rotary hamstick HF dipole antenna. Additional volunteers were Dr. Lew - W2PDY from CNY Support Group, and N2PMPs Mom, Mariam. Among the visitors were Allen - W2PEA (KC2MNCs grandfather), Aivars - W2AKD and his wife Rose Marie - WA2RMD, a Camillus DPR Supervisor and several neighbors of the ski resort. These young operators did not only work the States and Canada but also Mexico and Europe. The temperature was 94 degree F out there yet they had a great time. Well done folks! -- AB2QV
