2005 ARRL Field Day

07/04/2005 | K1KI Had another good time touring Field Day sites. This year the plan was to visit as many locations in Vermont as possible. I operated mobile (1-C) but didn't make too many QSOs. The best part was the air conditioning in the VW - it was 95f out both days.

Had a chance to visit nine Vermont groups in the 583 miles driven. First stop was the West River Radio Club, W1RRC, the newest Vermont club, set up in Townshend. Then it was on to the Southern Vermont ARC, WT1B, in Bennington and the Green Mountain Wireless Society, N1VT, in Rutland, before stopping for the night near Burlington.

On Sunday the first stop was the St Albans ARC, K2KI, operating around a pond in Fletcher, then the Northern Vermont QRP Society, N1QS at N1BQ's QTH in Underhill, and the Radio Amateurs of Northern Vermont, W1NVT, in Richmond. The Udder Club, W1MOO, was set up next to the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream factory in South Burlington, next was the Burlington ARC, W1KOO, set up at the Red Cross EOC in Burlington, and finally a visit to the Central Vermont ARC, W1BD, in Barre just as they were finishing taking down their antennas.

All in all - some nice visits to some fun groups!
