07/01/2005 | W2MPX The Metroplex Amateur Radio Radio Club(MARC) operated from the Ramsey,NJ Emergency Operations Center, using using 12V batteries, recharged by a small generator. Three HF stations,including one dedicated solely to CW and VHF/UHF stations were manned for almost the entire twenty-four hour period. The Ramsey Municipal Building housing the EOC, was open to the public for the entire period. Hams alternated between sleeping on cots and working their stations making as many contacts as band conditions wouild permit. Mayor Richard Muti issued a Proclamation from the Office of the Mayor and Councilman David Bisaillon,Public Safety Commissioner, presented a resolution from the New Jersey General Assembly, sponsored by Assemblywoman Charlotte Vandervalk and Assemblyman John Rooney.
