06/30/2005 | K3SWJ I operated 1E from South Texas (Austin). The conditions on the bands were pretty abysmal but the new Ten-Tec Orion really dug stations out of the muck. I had trouble working all I could hear which was a pleasant change. I hope to have a better temporary antenna next year if I do the 1E again. I'd really like our area to do an "F" class operation. Its awfully hot in Texas in the summer for people with poor health. The D, E and F classes are realy great for those that can't do it outside. Less Phone and more CW/digital is the hot ticket. I'll be practicing these skills for next time. -- K3SWJ
