2005 ARRL June VHF Contest

07/04/2005 | VE2DWA My first VHF contest, I operated 3 hours from my car parked (NOT AC) at Gatineau park (FN25bm), under a hot sun (Temp rise to 42 celsius, humedity factor). I bring my IC706MKIIG for 50, 144& 432 Mhz and Yaesu FT109 220MHz HT (but notbody in this band), I havent make many QSOs (only 26 but big fun), I have only yagi in 6 meter and vertical for 144 and 432, rubber duck in 220Mhz.

Being a tourist spot, we answered a lot of questions about what were doing there with these stuff.

We may have even recruited a new ham (we have doing some advertisement about our Field Day operation from Canada Science and Technology museum as VE3RAM). Also 2 HAMs stop (they looks the antennas) to say hello and chat for a while (a VE3? and VE2RAM Dick from Chelsea).

Many thanks to LW8EXF with her help with the antennas

See you in VHF September (Im planning to operated from same place again but Ill add 220MHz SSB-CW with more yagis) Please beam North !
