02/03/2003 | WA5TKU This is my first VHF contest in several years. It was good to hear all the new local activity. In general conditions were like I remembered for a January contest, bands were pretty dead. Noise level on 6 was 20 over with the noise blanker and against the peg with it off. Two meter noise was pretty high during a lot of the contest as well. Six never opened up at my QTH. Best DX was N0JK in EM18 on 2 meters, a distance of about 400 miles. Would like to thank the guys who rovered, they sure helped increase the grid count. Need to do some work on the station but had a good time operating the contest.
