NPOTA Activation Set at President’s Park — The White House — August 5 and 6

08/02/2016

Members of the Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club (GSBARC), headed by Mike Sartoretti, KC2SYF, have obtained a permit from the National Park Service to operate from President’s Park — The White House (DZ10) — for the ARRL National Parks on the Air (NPOTA) event. The operating location will be the southeast side of the Ellipse, and the call sign for the operation will be KC2SYF.

“Great South Bay ARC has managed to secure a permit to operate from one of the most-visible, highly-desired units in the National Parks on the Air program,” said NPOTA Co-Cordinator Sean Kutzko, KX9X. “We wish them every success in their activation of President’s Park for NPOTA.”

Two 100 W HF stations will be operating on 40, 20, and possibly 10 meters, plus 2 meters simplex. Due to park restrictions, however, the antennas, cannot be higher than 8 feet, so chasers should plan and operate accordingly.

The visit will include satellite operation by Paul Stoetzer, N8HM, who plans to be active on all voice satellites (SSB/FM) from 1400 UTC to 2100 UTC on Friday, August 5, and on Saturday, August 6. He hopes to take advantage of passes by AO-7B (145.940 MHz); AO-73 (145.965 MHz); FO-29 (435.865 MHz), and UKube-1 (145.945 MHz).
