CW DXCC Start Date | jimk7wa@gmail.com | on 15/9/21 |
Jim, I have researched the beginning of the CW DXCC Award and there is nothing in the documentation here that I have access to at this time that spells out the reasoning behind the date as it was chosen. I recall that there was commentary about it at the time, but I apologize that I don't recall what the reasoning was. I'm going to continue my quest to find out, and I'll post here anything I do find. I had not yet earned DXCC at that time so I was not as "tuned in" about this as I wish I was! 73, Bob W5OV |

Rule That Is Out-of-Date | N3XL | on 14/9/21 |
This rule is not "out of date". The use of the Internet or a telephone to solicit contacts is still forbidden during a contest. Those Internet based services you refer to are all forbidden. The issue is using non-amateur radio methods to solicit contacts. The fact that Hamshack Hotline is free is completely irrelevant. 73, Bob Naumann W5OV Director of Operations ARRL |

Jim, Curious what you mean by "is there any progress" ? What activity were you referring to that might be "progressing"? The CW DXCC award began in 1975. All contacts made prior count only towards the mixed DXCC award. I'm not aware of any initiative to change that. 73, Bob Naumann W5OV Director of Operations ARRL |
