Interesting. I admit to not reading the fine print.

Considering the number of cell phones I heard ringing there, they should confiscate those too!

I recently visited New York City, and at the top of my list was a visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.

Like many other attractions in NYC, they have airport style screening. Unlike all the other attractions, the security guards decided my HT needed to be confiscated. I had with me my Connect Systems CS-700 handheld radio, and was told that I would have to surrender it to enter the museum and collect it when leaving.

I had my radio with me through security at Empire State, and Statue of Liberty and Rockefeller. All had similar security systems (X-Ray and Metal Detector), but 9/11 were the only ones that decided my radio was dangerous and was not allowed in.

I asked the security guard why he thought it was more dangerous than my cell phone? He said my radio would interfere with the security radio system.

Has anyone else had this experience? Perhaps the museum people need some education about radio?
