I have a old hygain 18 AVT/WB-A vertical 10-80 that has served me well for MANY years. However I suspect that there may be a problem with the COAX feed point at the bottom of the mounting bracket.
Does anyone know the "internals" of this ant at the feed point ?
Is there a internal shunt coil or DC ground capacitor contained within the bottom tube of this antenna.
If so what arrangement are they connected, shunt? series? parallel?
Also what are the values of these devices and what should the resistance at the feed point read on a VOM?
I have tried HY-Gain, MFJ, and other sources, ie, Bing, Google with no clear results. I would love a note and a hand drawn schematic of the type of connection inside of the ant or if it is just a flex jumper from the female coax conn to the inside of the tube at the bottom mounting bracket.
Thank you in advance if you can help me.

Page 8 shows coil shunted across the coax. The caption says you should measure a dc ground.
