GMRS license, going away?

I heard that the FCC had published something about doing away with a GMRS license, but then put the proposal on the shelf and its gathered dust for a few years, right? I hope amateur radio will get a boost from the new Boy Scout amateur radio patch and I think there's potential for confusion because people who are unfamiliar with radios might think that a radio license with a call sign that you get from the FCC is the same as any other radio license with a call sign that you get from the FCC. |
