for the record, which version of windows 8 are you running? I bought two new laptops, but they wont run any of my radio software , and when HRD or FLDIGI is setup it crashes with PC error messages. disconnect radio, all is fine again. |

I have tried the new Windows 8 and it seems to have alot of bugs they need to work out. I have a Wouxun KG-UVD1P and Windows 8 will not run the programming software for it. I have since wiped my computer and gone back to Windows 7 for now. |

I have windows 8. So far I've been able to run logger32 buts that all. Microkeyer ii will not load, crashes computer. The computer has no serial ports, and will not recognize usb/serial adaptors. Guess I'll have to dump windows 8 and go back to windows 7. |

USB/serial adapters typically need device driver software that is compatible with the operating system you are running--when I bought a USB/serial adapter for my computer I made sure there was a Windows 7 driver--you might see if you can download/install Windows 8 device drivers for the adapters you have. You also have this issue with serial cards and printers--to work with Windows 8 they will need the appropriate device drives or software to function. Zack Lau W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |

On the issue on The Wouxun KG-UVD1P on Win8, I had the same problem, I ended up using the Vista driver on Win8 to use the USB programming cable. There is a version of the programming program for the radio especially for Win8. So use the Vista USB driver and the new programming program for Win8 and you should be OK. The drivers that come with Win8 don't work. You need to uninstall the Win8 drivers and manually use the Vista drivers until the Win8 drivers are corrected. |
