I have a Kantronics KPC-3 (not KPC-3+) that i would like to use. The primary issue is identifying the software should I need get to run on my computer? I will be using Windows 7 or 8. My understanding is the lap top computer will not have a DB-9 port so I will need either a cable that goes from the DB-25 connector on the TNC to a USB connector or a cable that goes from the DB-9 on the existing cable to a USB connector. My understanding is that this is a common part so do not expect this to be a problem. I will be operating on 2M or 440 using a hand held radio. |

The typical solution is to use a USB to serial port adapter with the appropriate driver software. The software is needed to create a virtual serial port required by old software. http://www.kantronics.com/support/faqs.html Kantronic has a FAQ on their vintage products.
