International Operations in South Africa

Good evening. My first post. I travel worldwide to many interesting countries for HF. I can see much info about operating but find some looks just too good to be true such as S. Africa. It says just use the prefix where I will be followed by my US callsign. I also find myself in S. Korea and Japan as well. I am trying to make heads and tails about all the foreign operations.
