Has anyone heard whether a prefix has been assigned yet? Any rumors of an expedition yet? JACK W1WEF |

Hello Jack, The ITU will eventually allocate a call sign series, either a new one or one of those currently allocated to Sudan: 6TA-6TZ 6UA-6UZ SSN-SSZ and STA-STZ. Note that SSN-SSZ is a rare "half series" (SSA-SSM is allocated to Egypt). This is not treated as urgently as the telephone country code which has already been allocated. 73, Dave K1ZZ |

The dxped is ON the air. The country code represents reveune so that was urgent and is a first order of business. Not many folks, except amateurs, really care much about the call sign prefix series but it will come in due time. Larry, W4RA |

Actually Larry, I think call sign prefixes are important to many people and organizations, such as radio and television broadcasters, aircraft owners, ship owners, and others. Nice to see you here, and a very warm congratulations regarding Minute # 41 of the recent BoD meeting. 73, de Hans, K0HB "Just a boy and his radio" |

Notwithstanding the DXCC criteria regarding deleted and new entities, can anyone explain the distinction between the old ST0 and this one? My understanding is the locations are precisely the same. |

I believe the distinction lies in the fact that the old ST0 was a semi- autonomous region of Sudan while the new ST0 is a totally independent entity. Also, I believe, I read somewhere that the new border is not precisely the same as the old one, some differences exist. Mike NA9Q |
