Using the "DISTANCE TO FAULT" mode consistantly gives wrong readings, ie, the electrical length reads less than the measured length. Its like the velocity factor in reverse. Does anybody have any insights/experience with this problem?

I'm assuming that if this mode can't be trusted, then none of the others can be trusted either. I'm considering throwing it in the trash absent any solution/explanation.

This web page by Tom W8JI says that the distance measurement procedures described in some manuals are incorrect--the proper procedure is in red at the top of the page.

Thank you Zack. I'm now getting proper electrical lengths with only a 2" maximum discrepancy over a wide range of frequencies. That's close enough for me. Thanks again & 73.
